Typographer Accordion Book

Assignment

Your last project of the semester will be to design a typographic accordion book; the subject will be a type designer whom you will select in class. You will research the typographer’s background, information about the typeface(s) she/ he created and their contributions to the type/design world. This project will enable you to establish visual hierarchy in an accordion book format, while learning about typographers and the visual characteristics of their unique typefaces. Utilize the knowledge you have gained from the Type Fundamentals Book (hierarchy, white space, composition, scale, axis, cropping, etc.).
Your goal is to push the boundaries of what you learned thus far and create an interesting piece while honoring the content of your text.

Giambattista Bodoni

is a historically significant typographer. My accordion book was about his life and work. I tried to utilize a monochromatic blue color scheme.  Symmetry and implied motion were a big motif for me in the creation of this project.
